With simplifying our life as the overarching vision for the year, we hereby announce Project UrbanSimplify: a 12 month challenge to help remove clutter, whether that be abstract or material.
Each month, we’ll take on a new challenge and focus on an area of life we’d like to make more simple. The specifics to each challenge will be revealed at the start of each month and last the duration of the month. We hope to learn something new with each challenge and progressively declutter these areas of our lives.
The Ground Rules
When: January 13, 2014 – December 31, 2014
What: Complete 12 monthly challenges to help simplify life with the intent of developing lifestyle changes and good habits.
Details: Each challenged will be revealed the day before the new month. Since the Doctor seems always to be busy, the first challenge will be announced on January 10th and start on January 13th.
Join us, will ya?
And what’s a challenge without a little competition? Our rivalry knows no bounds; there are games that are no longer played for fear that either of us will lose (so we need to come up with new games). Daniel and I will be competing with each other for the right to gloat. When it comes to winning, I take no prisoners. Points will be assigned to each player for the completion of each challenge. As always, a tie will be decided through battle of most glorious and honorable tradition: rock, paper, scissors.
We would also like to invite you to compete- I mean, complete- Project UrbanSimplify with us. You can join in for the entire year or just pick and choose the months or aspects you’re interested in.
Interested? Let us know in a comment below or visit us on twitter or facebook and use #UrbanSimplify to track your progress. May the odds be ever in your favour.
Okay, that graphic is THE AWESOMEST. Love your skillz.
Will keep an eye out with interest! Might participate depending on the specifics.
If you’re referring to the Barney graphic, not my skillz (oh shoot. I forgot to source the image). If you’re referring to the UrbanSimplify graphic, also not mine. However, I will take half credit for that; my idea, my vision, my design, but my husband computer skills.
Please do join the challenges that interest you!
Awesome! I love how you broke it down month by month. I hear habits have a much greater chance of sticking if you don’t tackle them all at once. I’m excited to following along and try some out!
Stay tuned. Challenge 1 to be revealed tomorrow.
This is so wonderful!! Will definitely be joining.
Thanks Allie!
Best picture ever! NPH is the greatest thing ever 🙂
Great idea, by the way! I definitely need to do something like this.
I’m in! I have monthly health challenges, mainly around fitness, so this should tie in with another part of my life. I totally agree a month is a great time to try something new, and the best stuff does tend to stick!
This is a really neat idea. I probably won’t follow along because I’m commitment-phobic, but I can see how this would be a really good way to tackle simplification in your life. Loving it!
Thanks Stephen!
